2010 Bogeys Annual Tournament

18 Jul

The 2010 Bogeys Annual Tournament was held in San Luis Obispo on Monarch Dunes (Saturday) and Cypress Ridge (Sunday).  Practice rounds on thursday and friday were held at Hunter Ranch and Monarch Dunes.

Although Hunter Ranch was pretty warm, the weather in San Luis was excellent.  The big winners were Mike Perez - Low Gross in the A Flight for the year and Ben Alonzo for Annual Low Net in the B Flight.  Mickey Schilber overcame Kevin Cosgrove in the A Flight Low Net race and Travis Bliss edged out Gary Haskin in a card-off for the B Flight Low Net.  Art Avila won the overall low putts for the year.  Although Ken Gomes wasn't able to play in the Annual, he managed to hang on to lead for Hacker of the Year.  Congrats Ken!

The weekend activities were highlighted by Matt Bettencourt's stellar play in the Reno/Tahoe Open, which was occuring at the same time the Bogeys were battling the links in SLO.  You could hear the echos across the fairways as the Bogeys were checking the status of the Reno Open on their iPhones:  "MATT'S 2 UP WITH 2 TO PLAY!!!".  Of course, with Matt's win, the Bogeys quickly figured out how to celebrate by returning to Dad's (Ed) place to hoist a few and watch the Golf Channel for the interviews and comments.

President Scott Tolbirt, Andy Dugo and a cast of helpers all contributed to make this weekend with the Bogeys one that will be remembered for a long time to come!  THANKS for all your hard work!!
